Participation of parents in the remote teaching process – revealed problems and valuable innovation in the opinion of school principals in the Wielkopolska region (Poland)

The findings presented in this paper are part of the comprehensive research carried out within “Diversification Social Attitudes Sphere Educational Services during a Pandemic” project. This study examines challenges that emerged remote learning, focusing on parents’ involvement their children’s learning process, as perceived by school principals. conclusions based questionnaire interviews with principals 36 randomly selected schools throughout Wielkopolska region (Poland). spanned second semester 2019/2020 year and first 2020/2021. Several issues were identified interviews, including communication difficulties students, lack skills teachers students to work remotely, insufficient IT infrastructure at home, financial deficits impeding purchase new equipment, decline students’ mental health. These problems primarily related family (home) situation participation parents solving these problems. No significant spatial differences respect opinions from different poviats region. However, observed depending level school. A distinctive issue raised mainly primary was lessons tendency complete tasks or even write tests for children, well frequent baseless excuses absences unfinished tasks. In contrast, both general vocational secondary generally agreed parental assistance marginal.
